Brandywine Battlefield Historic Site

The Brandywine Battlefield, a National Historic Landmark, located in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, closed on August 14, 2009 until further notice due to the state's budget crisis.  Brandywine Battlefield is the site of the largest and bloodiest battle of the Revolutionary War.  The American Patriots lost the one-day battle September 1, 1777, but went on to win the war.  The loss of funding for this important historical site has ceased educational activities and events for tourists who visit the park including the Battlefield Visitor Center, Washington's & Lafayette's Headquarters, educational guided tours and re-enactment events.  A grass roots campaign is endeavoring to keep the Brandywine Battlefield and the Revolutionary Times battle event open to the public.
